Chinese crude steel output up in early January

According to the China Iron & Steel Assn (Cisa), Chinese mills produced around 1.99 million tons per day of crude steel during the first ten days of the month, up 2% from the last eleven days of December 2013.

Cisa member mills are mainly medium to large-sized steelmakers, averaged 1.67 million tons per day in early-January, up by 2% from late December.

Cisa member mills' combined inventory of finished steel totaled 12.14 million tons as of January 10, down by 6% compared with December 31 levels, according to figures released by the association.
